2016 Summer Camp Opportunities for 3rd & 4th grade Students

Chadron Middle School Summer Science Camp: May 31-June 3 & June 6-10
8:00 AM - 12:00 Noon -  Except for field trip days.
4th graders this is your camp and includes 5th-8th graders in the 2016-17 school year. This is an opportunity to become comfortable and learn you way around the middle school before you start 5th grade in the fall. This camp has filled within the first few days the registration forms are released.  A field trip to the Sanford Lab at the former Homestake Gold Mine in Lead, SD is new this year along with drones that glow in the dark!

Chadron Intermediate School Summer Science Camp: June 13-17 & June 20-23
8:00 AM - 12:00 Noon - Except for field trip days.
3rd graders this is the camp for you as you will be 4th graders in the 2016-17 school year. Back by popular demand are field trips to Wind Cave in SD and Chadron State Park. Please, get your registration in ASAP!  You don’t want to be left out of the fun.

Wilderness Wonders Explorer Camp - “Planetary Adventures”:   June 7-8
This 4-H Science Camp is open to any students that will be 3rd-5th graders in the 2016-17 school year.  Adventures include: Glow in the dark Drones, STAR party including S’mores, design Solar cars with students from UNL, Archery, Crafts, more activities. This is an overnight camp at Camp Norwesca near Chadron State Park and the cost is $75.

Chadron Intermediate After School Program, CIA  is proud to announce that we have scholarships available for 3rd and 4th grade students to attend Wilderness Wonders Camp. The funding comes from a grant we received from the Snow Redfern Foundation.  To apply your child must be a regular attendee at the after school program (attended CIA for 30 days or more).  Please fill out the camp registration form and Wilderness Wonders Scholarship application. Provide a brief description of why you wish to attend this camp and what you expect to learn from participation.

Chadron Public Schools Foundation Summer Grant Application
The purpose of this non-profit organization is to assist educational efforts outside the regular school program for students in the Chadron Public School system.  If you are interested in obtaining assistance for your summer camp plans, complete their brief application and return to school before April 30th.  Forms are available from school offices or after school school staff.

Activities for May 9-19

These will be the last 2 weeks of After School Program for this school year, thank you so much for an awesome year, and we are looking forward to next school year!

CIA May 9 - May 19

Monday
May 9
Volcano Prep
2 Rotations (4:00-4:45, 4:45-5:30) No Quick Start Homework these last 2 weeks due to limited staff. Students will rotate between academics and preparing a volcano for eruption on Wednesday.  
Tuesday
May 10
Clubs
Students will do homework  3:45-4:15 then EVERYONE will split into the clubs that students have signed up for. Clubs will run from 4:15 until 5:15.
STUDENTS MAY NOT GET THEIR HOMEWORK COMPLETED ON CLUB DAY!
Wednesday

Agent Morgan
2 Rotations (4:00-4:45,4:45-5:30)  Morgan will be planning the activities for today. Academic/STEM building and students will erupt their volcano they made on Monday.
Thursday

Keep Chadron Beautiful
2 Rotations (4:00-4:45, 4:45-5:30) Students will rotate between academics and Jacki will be here for her last Keep Chadron Beautiful presentation.

Monday
May 16
Field/Academic Day Prep
Students will be in 1 group today, they will have academic time from 3:45-4:15. From 4:15-5:30 the students will be spllit into their Field/Academic Day teams and be doing various activities with their team to prepare for Tuesday and Wednesday.  
Tuesday
May 17
Academic Day
Students will be in 1 group today, they will have academic time from 3:45-4:15. From 4:15-5:30 students will be competing in the academic day, earning points towards the final field day event. Events include academic trivia, team cheer, cookie decorating and many more.
Wednesday
May 18
Field Day
Students will be in 1 group today, they will have academic time from 3:45-4:15. From 4:15-5:30 students will be competing in the field day, earning points towards the final event. Events include tug-a-war, relay, balloon race, potato sack race, 3 legged race and many more.
Thursday
May 19
Last Day of CIA
Students will be in 1 group today. Academic time from 3:45-4:15. Students will then enjoy a movie or play outside for the duration of program.
