PUMPKIN PATCH PLAY FOR CIA

The 3rd grade field trip to the Lil' Ladybug Greenhouse Pumpkin Patch on Mirage Flats was a hit!  Here are some pictures:

FEAR FACTOR FUN AT CIA

Students had a blast at the annual Lights on Afterschool celebration at CIA.  The theme was Fear Factor.  Students used their toes to get gummy worms from a pool of ice, dug for worms in chocolate pudding, and felt all kinds of creepy items.  Students made Fido Food and Puppy Chow for the occasion.  Students and parents enjoyed lots of other Fear Factor treats too including "Fish Water, Bug Bites, and Poisoned Apples!"

CIA Engineering Activity

Tuesday September 30, 2014

CIA students learned all about the Canadarm and how it is used as a gripper or any other tool that the astronauts need for fixing satellites. They watched a video demonstrating some of ways that it is used in space. After watching the video, the student got to make their own grippers. CIA students were given Styrofoam cups and string to make these grippers. Once they were assembled, the students got to test them out. Many students had a blast with gripping glue sticks and pens. Tons of them tried to grab as many glue sticks as they could-some as many as 6 glue sticks. It was a fun night of engineering and learning about how grippers work!

Here is the link to the video of the Canadarm:

Students are working hard at constructing their grippers.

Rhett and Noah are hard at work trying to figure out how their grippers work.
