CLUB NIGHT AT CIA

The pictures below show our after-school students engaged in Club activities.  We are thankful for the many volunteers hosting clubs this session.  We have eight clubs during each of three sessions that last about six weeks.  Clubs meet for an hour every Tuesday.  There are about ten students in each club.  Students have an opportunity to choose the club they want to belong to each session.  Each session includes ROBOTICS Club which is thanks to our partnership with Nebraska BLAST!  Our agent, Miss Courtney, does a fantastic job of leading Robotics.

Each session also includes CRESTVIEW CREW.  Miss Stacie takes students to Crestview Care Center where the residents have a variety of activities planned for our students.  What a great opportunity for both the elderly residents and our youthful students!  This Club has been very popular.

Mrs. Margetts is hosting a MUSIC CLUB each session which has also been popular.  Students have enjoyed making and playing their own instruments.

The 4th grade teachers are hosting a CARD SHARKS club this session.  Students have been learning and playing different card games.  Mrs. Swinney has a group of enthusiastic girls for SUPER SPA CLUB.  Students have been cooking up a storm in NUTRITION MISSION CLUB!  Mrs. Pelton is hosting a HEALTHY KIDS CLUB.  Last week, students learned about getting a good night's rest and packed home a pillow to practice!  And finally, Barb, a paleontologist from the Forest Service, has been fascinating club members with fossils and rocks in PALEONTOLOGY CLUB!

PENGUIN POWER AT CIA

The activities for CIA this past week centered around penguins.  Students watched Mr. Popper's Penguins on Monday, made Blubber Gloves on Wednesday to learn how sea animals stay warm in cold water.  Students also learned how penguins and other birds keep their feathers dry and watched the water roll right off the feathers!  Thursday students made Oreo penguins to eat and pipe cleaner penguins to keep!
BRRRR!!!! That's cold

The Blubber Gloves sure help keep out the cold!

Here's our penguin cookie creations!

Session 2 of CIA Clubs Off To a Great Start

The second session of clubs includes a variety of choices. Super Spa is is a club that will allow its members to pamper themselves and explore their girly side. The first nigh we made flavored lip gloss. Some of the choices were chocolate, pink lemonade, watermelon, grape, mixed berry and lime. It was a huge success! Next week at Super Spa we will design one another's nails.

Learning About Pollution

We drew pictures of what we would do if we had a million dollars. We had our own piece of land by a river or body of salt water and we could build whatever we wanted to. Some examples were NFL stadiums, floating hotels, cabins, animal farms, toy stores. Lots of people included pastures and trees, schools, and even giant ball pits! It was fun! - by Michael Rooks and Miss Courtney

Generous donations Make CIA students Holiday Bright

Local businesses make the students at CIA very happy this holiday season with some generous donations. Bank of the West contributed funds that will most likely be used to support the robotics program here at CIA. Your Selling Team of Chadron also surprised CIA students with a box full of much needed and appreciated games, flash cards, and reading materials. The Students could not be happier. Have a great holiday season.
