Caroling at Crestview



On Wednesday, December 11th the students at CIA spread Christmas cheer by caroling to the residents of Crestview care Center.

Monday, December 16th Activity: Make a Snow Globe Ornament

Students will be in three groups alternating between activities and

academic/homework time. (30 minutes each; 4:00-5:30)

Tuesday, December 17th Activity: Holiday Jeopardy

Students will be in two groups alternating between activity and

academic/homework time. (45 minutes each; 4:00-4:45; 4:45-5:30)

Wednesday, December 18th Activity: Movie & Popcorn
Polar Express

Thursday, December 19th Activity: Environmental Science

Academic/Homework Time first followed by the movie!

Friday, December 20th NO CIA Have a great holiday!

**FYI – We will be short-handed this week due to CSC students being done and headed home; so

students may not get as much “attention” this week, so please check with your student to make

sure their homework is done!**

Activity:  Keep Chadron Beautiful
Students will be in two groups alternating between activity with Keep Chadron Beautiful and academic/homework time. (45 minutes each; 4:00-4:45; 4:45-5:30)

Activity:  Christmas Carols
Students will be in three groups alternating between activities and academic/homework time.  (30 minutes each; 4:00-5:30)  Mrs. Hoffman will be bringing her guitar and working with us on some carols to perform at Crestview on Thursday!

Thursday, November 12th
Activity:  Caroling & Cocoa
Academic/Homework will be first.   We will be walking to Crestview Manor to sing Christmas carols for the residents.  We will have hot cocoa when we return!

Preparing for the Big Day

 CIA Students are busy making invitations, treats and decorations.  They are writing poems too!  The CIA Annual Giving Thanks Tea has become tradition at the after school program.  Students host a tea for staff and community partners.   Deserts and drinks are served by students.  Students look forward t this tea every year.  It it refreshing to see such a large group of students come together and host such a wonderful event for their school staff and CIA guests.

CIA GIVES THANKS!













The after-school students spent all week preparing for a celebration to thank the teachers and staff and other individuals whom we are thankful for at CIA.  Students created invitations, table decorations, goodie bags, and desserts.  They also prepared poems and practiced up on making polite conversation, expressing gratitude, and serving!  The event was held on Thursday.  Later on in the day, students got to celebrate by having dessert!

LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOL 2013 CIA

Thursday October 17th was a night to celebrate and promote our afterschool program.  Parents joined their students for activities. They enjoyed experimenting with circuits and conductors with Jennifer from NPPD and making alka seltzer rockets with Mrs.Swinney.  Mrs. Grant kept students busy with her broomstick and eggs as well as bouncing bubbles.  Students also enjoyed the photo booth and making a "CIA LIGHTS UP MY DAY" candle.  Refreshments were enjoyed and fun was had by all!  What a great night!

Lights on After School Event is Tonight!

Lights on after school Program is Tonight in Intermediate School Gym From 4:45- until 6:30

WHY: TO PROMOTE AND CELEBRATE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS!

WHAT: CIA CELEBRATION

WHEN: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17TH

TIME: 4:45 TO 6:30

WHERE: CHADRON INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL GYM

PLEASE JOIN US: Students will rotate through four stations with their parents/

guests. Each rotation will be twenty minutes long. Jennifer, an educational 

specialist with Nebraska Public Power, will have a station where students will 

learn to make a circuit! You can find out about those crazy science experiments 

going on at CIA at Mrs. Grant’s Spangler Science station! Get the NASA experience 

in Mrs. Swinney’s SPACE STATION! We will light up your life in the fourth station 

with a photo experience and a craft to take home! Stations will be followed by 

refreshments! If you can’t come at 4:45 p.m., come when you can! Keep your 

eyes open for CIA $$ challenges during the celebration!
