ELEPHANT'S TOOTHPASTE AT CIA??!!!

Students made a chemical reaction today by combining 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide, a couple drops of Dawn dishsoap, and 1 tsp. of yeast dissolved in 2 tablespoons of very warm water.  The reaction produced "heat" as well as lots of "soapy foam."  However, not as much as the powerful strength peroxide used in the Steve Spangler experiment in the video below.  I've also added the link to Steve Spangler Science as many students were asking for it.

PURPLE COWS SIGHTED AT CIA

Students at CIA made purple cow milkshakes today.  Here's the recipe:
Combine the following in the blender:
3 cups vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt
1 cup of milk
1/2 cup of grape juice concentrate
1 1/2 tsp of lemon juice

Makes about six to eight 6 ounce servings
Blend until smooth; Serve immediately (we liked that part!)

YUMMY!  ALL THAT'S LEFT IS THE MESS!!

Appreciate and Celebrate

The Second Annual Giving Thanks Tea was held today at CIA.  Students spent all week preparing themselves for the event.  Lessons on manners and how to's on serving and hosting were just two of the many lessons taught this week.
Students gave thanks to teachers and staff from the Intermediate building by preparing and serving desserts.  Decorations and invitations were also made by CIA students.  Over 80 students participated in the event.  It was a huge success.

Fun With Foam

I got to make foam.
There was green foam, yellow foam and Pink foam.
I made yellow foam.
We used food coloring.
Ms. Rachel helped us make foam.
It was formed by a chemical reaction. Between polyurathane A and polyurathane B. It got so hot that the cups melted. I had a fun time.
